Sherwood High School senior Tiffany Wehmeyer has been awarded the Joan Peebles Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was established by Sherwood teacher Patty Nipko in loving memory of her mother, Joan Peebles, a 27-year employee of the Knob Noster School District. Mrs. Peebles loved children and often used her own resources so a student never went without the necessities for school. Education was very important to her and she enjoyed seeing children learn. Mrs. Nipko believes that her mother would like nothing better than to help a high school student with his or her dream of becoming a teacher. Wehmeyer is planning in the fall to attend Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan., and majoring in education. She is the daughter of Bobby and Konnie Wehmeyer of Creighton.
