McEowen Elementary School fifth graders took on the roles of Civil War Jayhawkers under the direction of Carol Bohl of the Cass County Historical Society during Civil War Day at the school. The students, Ricky Hurt, Kale Read, Ethan Karr and Jesse Wallen, played Jayhawkers while classmates played the roles of Harrisonville merchants. The students heard and acted out the story of Harrisonville during the Civil War. Other stations students visited during the day included lessons in the Rockford One-Room Schoolhouse, military marching, sewing and checkers playing.
