Peculiar earns Missouri Main Street grant
Just as Belton did last year, Peculiar has been awarded a Missouri Main Street cost-sharing grant that provides training and technical services to local revitalization programs in Missouris historic commercial districts.
The Missouri Main Street Connection, a state-supported program based in Branson, will conduct an initial consultation with the Downtown Peculiar Arts & Culture District this month to evaluate existing revitalization efforts and set up a schedule of services customized to address Peculiars needs.
The grant, which required the community to contribute 40 percent of the cash value of the services while MMSC contributes 60 percent, covers a two-year period.
During that time, the revitalization group in Peculiar will receive onsite training from MMSC aimed to develop the organizations capacity to sustain the revitalization effort. The grant was awarded as the result of a competitive process.
