Jerry Lee Bearkheimer
June 15, 1939 - Dec. 28, 2011
Jerry Lee Bearkheimer, of Harrisonville, was born June 15, 1939, in Coshocton, Ohio, the son of Forrest Saline and Claudia Madline (Harden) Bearkheimer. He died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at Golden Years Care Services, Harrisonville, at the age of 72.
On Sept. 26, 1959, Jerry was united in marriage to Bernice Margaret Farace in St. Charles. Jerry was employed as a payroll clerk for IBM in Florissant and later owned and operated Nickerson Farms in Harrisonville and the D-Li-My Restaurant in Archie. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, and Knights of Columbus. Jerry loved to have a green yard during summer; animals, especially dogs; exercising and lifting weights.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Bearkheimer, on May 19, 2003.
Jerry is survived by his wife Bernice Bearkheimer of the home; a son, Steven Bearkheimer; a daughter, Julie L. Karg and husband DeWayne Sr., Harrisonville; 14 grandchildren; a great-grand dog, Boss; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Mass was Jan. 6 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

David Lloyd Griffith, 51, of Pleasanton, Kan., died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan. David was born May 8, 1960, in Harrisonville.

Edith Louise Lehman

Mrs. Edith Louise Lehman, of Harrisonville, was born Sept. 6, 1916, in McLean, Neb., the daughter of H.H and Waverly Zoe (Graff) Buchanan. She died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at Lees Summit Medical Center, Lees Summit, at the age of 95.
On Aug. 19, 1935, Edith was united in marriage to Norman Walter Lehman in Harrisonville.
Edith was a hotel clerk and waitress for Harrisonville Hotel and later was a Certified Nurses Assistant for Dunsworth Manor, both of Harrisonville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Harrisonville. Edith loved to sew and was known as a hard worker and good Christian woman who loved her church family.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, on March 1, 1952; a son-in-law, Duaine Rice; a brother, Edward Buchanan and a sister, Elsie Dillon.
Edith is survived by a daughter, Shirley A. Rice, Peculiar; two grandchildren, Richard Rice and Vicki Quijas; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were Jan. 6 at First Baptist Church, Harrisonville, with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Kirk Anthony Wyatt

Kirk Anthony Wyatt, of Harrisonville, was born May 13, 1971, in Kansas City, the son of Leonard Wayne and Nancy Kay (Tittle) Wyatt. He died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, surrounded by his family at Benchmark Healthcare of Harrisonville at the age of 40.
Kirk loved taking things apart and putting them back together, welding, fabricating and building things. He enjoyed dune buggies, 4 wheelers, motorcycles, dirt bikes, old hot rods, fishing, duck hunting and catching crawdads. He liked anything that went fast and was loud.
In 2003, he was diagnosed with M.S., which was a fast-advancing, aggressive form. He fought a long, hard battle. Later, he developed a seizure disorder that made it worse.
Kirk was a 1990 graduate of Harrisonville High School and attended the welding classes at Cass Career Center. He had lived in Harrisonville before moving to Independence and had returned back to Harrisonville to be near his family.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Edith Tittle; paternal grandfather, Leonard Wyatt and an uncle, Frank Wyatt.
Kirk is survived by his parents, Leonard and Nancy Wyatt; his sister, Kara Wilson and husband, Jeff; two nieces, Ashlyn and Alyssa all of Harrisonville; his paternal grandmother, Ann Wyatt, Independence; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. Kirk will be greatly missed but is now at peace and no longer in any pain. We loved him so much.
Funeral services were Jan. 9 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville. Cremation.

Billy Joe Ellsworth, 70, of Independence, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was born Thursday, March 13, 1941, in Broseley. He died at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Kansas City Hospice House surrounded with love and family.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service was at Browns Chapel Cemetery in Broseley.

George Redmond Anderson, Jr.

George Redmond Anderson Jr., 80, of Liberty, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at his home in Liberty. George was born Feb. 14, 1931, near Freeman, the son of George R. and Opal (Todd) Anderson.
He was united in marriage to Jean Miller on July 1, 1950, in Harrisonville.
George started working for Midland Brick & Tile in Harrisonville as a laborer and retired as sales manager for Midland Brick in Utica. George and Jean moved to Urich in 1978 and owned and operated the Town Tavern before moving to Liberty in 2002.
George was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ernest and Bob.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean; three daughters, Elnora Anderson, Drexel, Ginny Kennedy, Pleasant Valley, and Robin Flanigan and her husband, Tim, Liberty; one sister, Doris Ingham, Urich; one brother, Charles Anderson, Appleton City; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Jan. 10 at Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, officiated by David Coffelt, Harrisonville.
Casketbearers were Clint Miller, Chris Miller, Clint Cumpton, Brian Flanigan, Tim Flanigan and Tom Shadid.
Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Alberta Louise Long

Alberta Louise Long, 84 of Peculiar, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at The Rehabilitation Center of Raymore. Alberta was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Collins, the daughter of Lloyd and Capitola (Tucker) Best.
She married Herbert B. Long on Sept. 28, 1947, in Clinton. They had lived in Collins and Clinton before moving to Peculiar in 1960. Alberta worked at Grace Garment Company as an embroiderer in both Clinton and Belton. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Peculiar.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Harve Long, in October 2008 and her husband Herbert B. Long on Feb. 9, 2009.
She is survived by two sons, Herbert Long, Peculiar, and Howard Long, Garden City; one daughter, Karen Long, Raymore; one brother, Leonard Best, Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Lola Mae Coberly, Kansas City; four grandchildren, Beth, Jim, Brian and Megan, and six great-grandchildren, Brandon, Nicole, Mathew, Jakob, Kaleb and Benjamin.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville. Private burial will be in White Oak Cemetery in Urich.
