The Sherwood boys basketball team is starting out this season with quite a few wins under their belt.
The Marksmen, now 10-1, just clinched the Appleton City Tournament title held Jan. 9-14 with victories over Hume, 71-28, in the first round, Northeast Vernon County, 70-37, in the semifinals and Rich Hill, 66-49, in the championship game.
In the first round, Brett Eddleman and Aaron Shaddox led the team with 13 points each. Cody Wade had 12 points, Jacob Briggs added 11 points and Brandon Lindsey had eight points. Brinton Clampitt netted six points, Jacob Moore had four points and Austin Nigh and Austin Jackson both had two points.
In the semifinal game, Lindsey led the Marksmen with 25 points, followed by Shaddox with 16 points and Wade with 14 points. Eddleman netted eight points, Briggs had four points, Zach Matson added two points and Nigh had one point.
Shaddox had 25 points in the championship game, followed by Wade with 14 points and Eddleman with nine points. Briggs added seven points, Matson had six points and Nigh had five points.
