Northbound U.S. 71 temporarily reduces to one lane in Archie area
Northbound U.S. 71 will be reduced to one lane from 7 p.m. tonight to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan, 24 between State Route B/A at Archie and 289th Street to place temporary concrete barriers for wall construction, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. Once this work is completed, northbound U.S. 71 will re-open to two lanes.
The work is part of a $6.3 million project to build overpasses at 283rd and 327th and U.S. 71, and to build a new interchange at 307th and U.S. 71. The improvements will eliminate at-grade crossings at these county roads and prepare U.S. 71 to be upgraded to Interstate 49 by the end of 2012.
