July 6 Community Brief
Clay Potters Garden Club meets
Clay Potters Garden Club met June 9 for the annual Tour of members gardens.
They visited the yards and gardens of six members and two friends of members. They were Denise Grown, Jo Ann Swearengin, Katrine Cummins, Darra Simpson, Sereta Winkle, Diane Kearie, Loretta Knoche and Mildred Roth.
Roth is 92-years-old and a long-time garden club member who resides now at Benchmark Care facility but continues to maintain a large garden. She said it keeps her young and sane.
The tour ended there, where the members enjoyed a picnic lunch with drinks and dessert provided by Benchmark.
The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 9, for a field trip to the residence of Brad Bockelman. He is a well known gardener in the area who plants with a purpose of reflecting the architecture of his historic house and to enhance the grounds.
For questions, call Bernie Zeller, club president, at 816-380-7801.
