BOA approves ordinances

The City of Harrisonville’s Board of Aldermen met briefly Aug. 6 for a public hearing for a rezoning project and to weigh in on three proposed council bills.

The board took the following actions:

Approved an ordinance for rezoning from the city’s “M-11” light industrial district to a “C-2” service business district on property located in Price Industrial and Commercial Park for Show Me Assets and Investments of Harrisonville.

Approved an ordinance submitted by Danny Carmichael of Stonegate Crematorium to grant a special use permit for the establishment of a crematorium located at the southeast corner of Brookhart Road and South Brickplant Road in Harrisonville.

Approved a resolution authorizing the city administrator to execute an agreement with KC Bobcat for the purchase of a S-185 skid loader not to exceed $28,589.

The Board of Aldermen will hold a special meeting Monday, Aug. 13 to work on the 2013 budget and to hold a tax levy public hearing at 6 p.m. The proposed tax rates are as followed:

For the general fund, the city is proposing that the 2012 tax rate be increased from $0.5501 to $0.5585 per $100 in property value. The proposed tax revenue is $658,680.

For the park fund, the city is proposing that the 2012 tax rate be increased from $0.1245 to $0.1264 per $100 in property value. The proposed tax revenue is $149,073.
