Ride for Recovery
The Healing House is hosting a benefit ride and show beginning at Dream Motorsports at 1208 N. Scott, Belton, on Sunday, Sept.16. A pre-ride rally will begin at 8 a.m. The ride will travel to Knuckleheads Saloon in Kansas City, where the benefit show will entertain acts including the Mad Notes and the Lonnie Ray Blues Band. Women’s health clinics scheduled
The Women’s Health Services Belton Clinics will be held Sept. 19, 20, and 25. The clinic is located at 119 Congress St., Belton. A Harrisonville Clinic will be Sept. 26, located at 200 N. Oakland, Harrisonville. Participants must call for an appointment and cancellations should be made at least 24 hours in advance. Services include comprehensive well woman exams including clinical breast exam, pelvic, Pap smear, HIV and Sexually Transmitted Disease testing and treatment, pregnancy testing, reproductive and contraceptive counseling, as well as the issuance of contraceptive supplies. Charges for services are based on a sliding fee scale according to household income. Persons desiring appointments or more information should contact the Women’s Health Services division of West Central Missouri Community Action Agency by calling 1-888-577-4640.

VFW Auxiliary garage sale and candlelight service
The VFW Auxiliary 4409 of Harrisonville will be hosting a garage sale Sept. 20-21 at Post Headquarters, 1804 N. Commercial. Donations will benefit veterans. The Auxiliary will also be holding a POW/MIA candlelight service 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at the headquarters.

Lora Paine fundraiser
Blue River Bible Church, 15608 Fairchild Dr., Kansas City, will be hosting a fundraiser and bake sale to help offset medical expenses for 19-year-old Lora Paine’s kidney transplant, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22. Harrisonville United Methodist Church, 2600 E. Mechanic, will be hosting a workshop, “Grandparents raising grandchildren in today’s world,” 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. The keynote speaker will be Steve Nichols, school resource officer at Harrisonville Middle School. The topic will be social media safety. Breakout sessions after the keynote speakers will include the topics of legal rights of grandparents, nutrition, discipline and family support. Cass County Council on Aging dinner
The Cass County Council on Aging will be hosting their semi-annual Ham and Turkey dinner 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30 at the Harrisonville Community Center, 2400 Jefferson Pkwy. Cost is $9 for adults and $3.50 for children. Proceeds assist with homebound meals.
