2 killed in seperate Cass County accidents
Sheriffs, Highway Patrol respond to incidents

Two fatalities were reported in southern Cass County this week.
Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene of a single car fatality accident Sept. 25.
The accident occurred at 1 p.m. near on Highway 7 between Thunder and Chandler Roads, north of Creighton.
Tyler E. Fracassa, 27, Urich, was pronounced dead at the scene by Brie Miller with the Jackson County Medical Examiners Office at 2:18 p.m. Fracassa was the only person in the vehicle, and as of Sept. 26, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Fracassa was headed south on Highway 7 in a 2003 Honda Element. His vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway. The driver overcorrected. Subsequently, the vehicle returned to the roadway, crossed the center line and entered the left lane.
The driver overcorrected again causing the vehicle to run off the right side of the roadway and strike a tree.
Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper J.C. Utz investigated the accident. Utz was assisted by Trooper G.B. Wright, Cass County Sheriff’s Department, and Garden City Fire and Rescue.
Following the accident, the body was transported to the Jackson County Medical Examiners Office.
A Garden City man died Sept. 24 in a farming accident.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Paul Peterson, 52, was killed after he became pinned underneath an overturned tractor on E. 315th St., east of Highway T, near Garden City.
The incident occurred at about 2 p.m.
Deputies responding to the accident said Peterson was backing up his Allis Chalmers tractor when the rear tires dropped off the roadway causing the tractor to overturn.
Peterson was pinned under the tractor and sustained fatal injuries at the scene.
The crash was investigated by the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit and Jackson County Medical Examiners Office.
