The <span class="italic">Cass County Democrat Missourian</span> brought back several awards from the Missouri Press Association&#x2019;s Better Newspaper Contest awards banquest Sept. 22 in Columbia.</p><p>Two first place awards were given to Stephanie Yeagle for Best Sports Photograph and for Best Story About History.</p><p>Second place awards were won in Best News or Feature Series, Best Feature Photograph, Best Editorial Pages and Best Coverage of Government.</p><p>Third place awards were earned in General Excellence, Best Front Page, Best News Story and Best News Photograph.</p><p>The <span class="italic">Cass County Democrat Missourian</span> also received honorable mention in Best Front-to-Back Newspaper Design, Best News Photograph, Best Photo Package, Best Sports News Story or Package by Yeagle, Best Sports Feature Story by Yeagle and Best Story About Religion.</p><p>This year&#x2019;s Better Newspaper Contest was judged by journalists from the Wisconsin Press Association.</p><p>&#x201C;To win 16 awards in the highly competitive weekly newspaper category is a great honor,&#x201D; Publisher John Beaudoin said. &#x201C;Community journalism is alive and well in Cass County and we are proud to be leading the way for newspaper coverage.&#x201D;
