Friday Night football previews
ARCHIE
Last game: 53-12 conference loss to Osceola
Record: 2-4 (1-4 conference)
Tonight’s game: Home vs. Appleton City, 7 p.m. Appleton City lost to Adrian 35-6 in last week’s game and has a 1-4 record.
Comments: “We have to rebound from last week’s game. We came out unfocused, unmotivated and Osceola embarrassed us. Appleton does some good things offensively and Coach (Kevin) Mitchell and his staff do a good job. Appleton is always physical and we have to be ready to play. Friday should be a good game.”
– Archie head coach Michael Toschi

BELTON

Record: 1-5 (1-3 conference)
Tonight’s game: Away at Grandview, 7 p.m. Grandview lost to Raytown South 48-36 in last week’s game and has a 2-4 record.
Comments: “It’s another important game for us. It’s going to be a difficult ball game. Grandview is a good football team. We are going to have to play a whole lot better than what we did against Chrisman if we are going to give ourselves a chance. We have a lot of things to get corrected and improved on and hopefully we can get that taken care of this week in practice.”
– Belton head coach Mark Thomas

Tonight’s game: Home vs. Sherwood, 7 p.m. Sherwood beat St. Mary’s 40-18 in last week’s game and has a 3-3 record.
Comments: “Sherwood is a very hard nosed football team. They are big and have a very good running back. It is going to be a challenge to slow them down. We need to be just as physical as them, limit their big plays and have a few of our own to be the victors.”
– Drexel head coach Nate Danneman

SHERWOOD
Last game: 40-18 conference win over St. Mary’s
Record: 3-3 (1-2 conference)
Tonight’s game: Away at Drexel, 7 p.m. Drexel beat Rich Hill 54-8 in last week’s game and has a 5-1 record.
Comments:”They are a team with a lot of speed. They like to spread the field and get the ball into open space. We’ll have to do a really good job of being disciplined in our pass responsibilities and open field tackling this week. Offensively, we need to slow the game down, grind out long drives, and keep the ball out of their hands. It’s very important that we win the time of possession this game.”
– Sherwood head coach Jim Gurney
