October 5 Community Brief
Clay Potters Garden Club
Clay Potters Garden Club met Sept. 10 at the Harrisonville Community Center with 12 members present. Bernie Zeller opened the meeting by leading in the pledge to the flag. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved and a treasurers report was given by Debbie Lehman. She reported sending a $25 gift card to Ronetta D. who came from Warsaw to judge our flower show at Benchmark on Aug. 18.
Darra Simpson reported on the West Central District meeting Sept. 8 in Warsaw. Lots of details and questions on how to make the district meetings better attended by the general membership.
Bernie asked for more suggestions and ideas for next years programs.
Jeanette Bartles gave a recycling tip on how to use a plastic lid filled with half water and half vinegar plus two drops of dish soap to kill fruit flies.
Judy Manning gave the Bird of the month report on the Gray Cat Bird. It was quite interesting.
Cindy Keesler gave a mini workshop on how to recycle a two-liter bottle to make a birdfeeder. Several members took one home.
We will meet next at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at the home of club member Debbie Lehman. Program will be on dahlias, given by local expert Larry Boucher.
