Ray-Pec wins three duals

On their senior night, Raymore-Peculiar won three of three duals in the meet held Oct. 9 at Harrisonville Community Center.

The Panthers defeated Belton 198-82, Lee’s Summit 159-129 and Pembroke Hill 201-58.

“The guys swam well and sent the seniors out with a win,” Raymore-Peculiar head coach Matt Majors said. “The guys are now busy preparing for the Kansas City Classic this weekend and then conference in a couple of weeks.”

Led by seniors Daniel Newton, Austin Smith, Keefe Murphy and Ryan Dillon, the Panthers won four of 11 events.

Smith took first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 12.97 seconds. Newton took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :25.0 seconds. Chase Schaeffer finished first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:29.52.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Schaeffer, Newton, Christian Baumarten and Ben Brenizer finished first with a time of 1:44.34.

Belton defeated Pembroke Hill 157-93, but lost to Raymore-Peculiar 198-82 and to Lee’s Summit 172-108.

“The meet was tough with good competition during a heavy workload week in a warm pool,” Belton head coach Martijn Keltner said. “That being said, I was very pleased with the results and times we put up. We even had a handful of season best times. Overall our season has progressed extremely well, with all of our swimmers improving their times on a weekly basis. I am really looking forward to conference to see what my boys can do in a big meet and on a good rest.”
