Pam Schnake was selected as the 2012 Wayne Brown Outstanding Speech and Theatre Teacher for Missouri.

Schnake teaches theatre at Raymore-Peculiar East Middle School. The award, which included a plaque and $250, was presented by the Speech and Theatre Association of Missouri at its 80th conference Sept. 28 at Lake of the Ozarks.

STAM includes middle school, high school and university level theatre instructors. Schnake is one of the only – if not the only – middle school teacher to ever receive this award. She is in her 23rd year of teaching, and her 20th year at Ray-Pec .

The Ray-Pec district is also one of only a handful of schools to have two current instructors receive this award. Todd Schnake, who teaches theatre at Ray-Pec High School, received the award in 2007.

The nomination of Schnake for the award was led by Jayme Overstreet, a 1998 Ray-Pec graduate who now teaches theatre at Warrensburg High School, Richard Herman, a theatre instructor at the University of Central Missouri, and Todd Schnake.
