Harrisonville McEowen Elementary students were recently honored at a monthly assembly Sept. 27. The school hosts a monthly Positive Action Assembly to recognize student accomplishments.

To begin the assembly, Boy Scouts led McEowen students in the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem.

The September Students of the Month were fourth graders Madison Ritter and Brian Garlock, and fifth graders Amy Tracy and Jackson Jones. Students of the Month are nominated by their classroom teacher.

Each month, McEowen students who exhibit the character education trait of the month are honored. September’s trait was Respect and those students receiving the McBest Award were awarded for Forgiveness.

Students are also recognized for writing and math at each Positive Action Assembly.

Fifth grader Emma Wernex received Service Above Self Award from the Harrisonville Rotary Club for September. Each month, the Rotary Club recognizes students at McEowen for their work in helping others.

McEowen also recognizes a staff member at the school as the McEowen Sonic Super Star Staff Member. Fourth grade teacher Kim Spencer was honored as the September recipient.
