Elementary students honored at assembly

Harrisonville Elementary School students were honored at an assembly Oct. 5. The school hosts monthly assemblies to recognize student accomplishments.

Third grader Nicholas Ripperger received the Service Above Self Award from the Harrisonville Rotary Club. Each month, the Rotary Club will recognize one student at HES for their work in helping others.

Students who exhibit the character trait of the month are named Wildcats of the Month. The character trait for September was Respect and those honored as Wildcats of the Month were first graders Collin Bridgers and Ramsey Turk, second graders Summer Wagoner and Layne Curtis, and third graders Kayla Schrandt and Dougie Gilmore. The honored students received a certificate and a T-shirt from the PTO. The Applebee’s Golden Apple recipient for September was third grade teacher Alisa Hopper.

Over 335 students were honored for meeting their reading goals for September.
