Running to state

Pleasant Hill boys take second, Ray-Pec boys earn fourth

The Raymore-Peculiar boys’ cross country team earned a spot to the Class 4 state championships slated for Nov. 3 at Oak Hill Country Club, Jefferson City.

The Panthers took fourth place with a team score of 100 points at the Class 4, Sectional 4 meet held Oct. 27 at Raymore-Peculiar. They were led by Jason Fambrough with a fourth place finish of 15 minutes, 56.2 seconds.

Keaton Wasson took 16th with a time of 16:31.8, Brody Wild finished 30th with a time of 16:40, Cole Brooks took 34th with a time of 16:55.5, Levi Van Dyne placed 39th with a time of 17:03, Derek Taylor took 49th with a time of 17:10.3 and Kyle Wathor finished 63rd with a time of 17:40.8.

The Raymore-Peculiar girls took eighth place as a team with a score of 165 points, but had two runners qualify for state. Amanda Wharton placed 24th with a time of 19:56.8 and Jamie Wharton finished 26th with a time of 19:57.6.

The other Lady Panther runners were Rachel Fisk in 45th with a time of 20:41.9, Ashley Newson in 53rd with a time of 20:58.5, Crystin Wilson in 63rd with a time of 21:38.2, Ali Gillespie in 64th with a time of 21:47.8 and Morgan Smith in 66th with a time of 22:00.5.

Belton’s Bridget Byard finished 58th with a time of 21:12.8.

The Class 3, District 7 meet was also held Oct. 27 at Raymore-Peculiar and the Pleasant Hill boys’ finished second with a team score of 64 points, qualifying the entire team to state.

The Roosters were led by Taylor Livingston in fifth place with a time of 18:00.3 and Christian Richardson in sixth with a time of 18:08.8. Jacob Watson took eighth with a time of 18:14.5, Doug Bybee placed 22nd with a time of 19:11.8, Joseph Madison finished 24th with a time of 19:28.6, Adam Reeves took 30th with a time of 19:55.6 and Johnny Romer placed 38th with a time of 20:31.2.

Harrisonville’s Michael Sidwell took 23rd with a time of 19:27.9 and Eric Johnico finished 43rd with a time of 21:20.5.

The Pleasant Hill girls placed fifth as a team with a score of 115 points, but had one runner qualify for state. Courtney Bakken finished 12th with a time of 21:11.2.

Other Chick runners were Emma Moore in 26th with a time of 22:22.7, Perri Brown in 30th with a time of 23:16.5, Haleigh Rottinghaus in 33rd with a time of 23:50.2, Madison Barker in 36th with a time of 24:40.3 and Brianna Shuler in 41st with a time of 26:48.4.

Harrisonville’s Melissa Watson also qualified fir state with an eighth place finish of 20:52.1.

The Drexel boys just missed qualifying as a team to state at the Class 1, District 7 met held Oct. 27 at Holden. The Bobcats finished third with a team score of 59 points.

But two Drexel boys will be competing at state. Chase Reynolds finished second with a time of 17:44 and Jacob Antley took 11th with a time of 18:36. Other Bobcat runners were Andrew Collins in 18th with a time of 19:13, Trevor Gunnels in 23rd with a time of 20:00, Trevor Cooley in 24th with a time of 20:02, Lincoln Williams in 38th with a time of 21:34 and Chance Reynolds in 39th with a time of 21:37.

The Drexel girls are sending three runners to state. Jacklynn Williams finished third with a time of 22:10, Sarah Cawby placed fifth with a time of 22:41 and Jenna Bartholomew finished sixth with a time of 23:19. The other Lady Bobcat runner was Nikki Quisenberry in a 31st place time of 29:50.

The Midway boys finished fifth at districts with a team score of 116 points and did not qualify anyone to state.

They were led by David Needham in 17th with a time of 19:12. Justin Fielder finished 32nd with a time of 21:00.84, Jackson Eberle took 33rd with a time of 21:06, Conor Hayes placed 34th with a time of 21:11, Blake Rhodes took 37th with a time of 21:31, Cameron Willey finished 42nd with a time of 21:56 and Shayne Brooke took 43rd with a time of 21:56.68.

The Lady Vikings took third with a team score of 64 points and qualified two runners to state. Sydney Admire placed 11th with a time of 24:15 and Dee Stark took 15th with a time of 24:44.

Other Midway girls runners were Caitlin Chaffin in 18th with a time of 25:24, Allie Hayes in 22nd with a time of 26:52, Zoe Eberle in 28th with a time of 28:49, Shelby Admire in 32nd with a time of 30:50 and Tessa Mills in 35th with a time of 32:58.

The Sherwood girls will be represented at state by three runners who qualified at the Class 2, District 7 meet held Oct. 27 at Holden.

The Lady Marksmen were led by Krista Johnson in eighth place with a time of 21:20.78, followed by Shannon Feurt in ninth with a time of 21:27 and Cheyenne Cumpton in 12th with a time of 21:33.

The Sherwood boys also competed at districts, but did not qualify any runners at state. The Marksmen were led by Andrew Douglass in 46th with a time of 21:42, followed by Derek Scott in 47th with a time of 21:43, Josh Hall in 53rd with a time of 22:45 and Jimmy Mouse in 54th with a time of 23:11.
