Athletes compete at cross country state meet

The Raymore-Peculiar boys’ cross country team finished 10th place with a team score of 240 points at the Class 4 state cross country meet held Nov. 3 at Oak Hills Golf Center, Jefferson City.

The Panthers were led by sophomore Keaton Wasson in 42nd with a time of 16 minutes, 57.28 seconds, followed by senior Jason Fambrough in 67th with 17:09.56, senior Brody Wild in 69th with 17:09.7, sophomore Cole Brooks in 11th with 17:34.53, junior Levi Van Dyne in 128th with 17:45.2, senior Derek Taylor in 135th with 17:57.3 and junior Kit Leonard in 151st with 18:10.79.

The Raymore-Peculiar girls also sent two runners to state. Freshman Jamie Wharton finished 85th with a time of 20:56.32, followed by junior Amanda Wharton in 110th with a time of 21:14.8.

The Pleasant Hill boys’ team took 16th place in the Class 3 race with a team score of 388 points.

The Roosters were led by senior Taylor Livingston in 81st with a time of 18:23.26, followed by junior Christian Richardson in 118th with 19:01.83, senior Doug Bybee in 135th with 19:30.47, freshman Jacob Watson in 145th with 19:43.06, sophomore Joseph Madison in 154th with 20:04.84, senior Adam Reeves in 163rd with 21:11.16 and sophomore Johnny Romer in 169th with 21:54.39.

Pleasant Hill sophomore Courtney Bakken also competed in the Class 3 girls’ race, earning 90th with a time of 21:53.78. Harrisonville sophomore Melissa Watson finished 43rd with a time of 21:03.58.

In the Class 2 girls’ race, Sherwood junior Shannon Feurt took 39th with a time of 21:46.46, followed by teammate freshman Krista Johnson in 40th with a time of 21:48.78 and junior Cheyenne Cumpton in 70th with a time of 22:42.16.

The Drexel boys had two runners compete in the Class 1 championships. Senior Chase Reynolds took 13th with a time of 17:52.62 and sophomore Jacob Antley finished 48th with a time of 18:49.89.

Drexel senior Jacklynn Williams took 11th in the Class 1 girls’ race with a time of 22:05.9, followed by sophomore Sarah Cawby in 49th with a time of 23:44.31 and sophomore Jenna Bartholomew in 53rd with a time of 23:48.69.

Midway’s Shelby Admire took 108th with a time of 25:11.43 and sophomore Dee Stark took 135th with a time of 26:42.24.
