Golden Anniversary
Ed and Joan Benjamin
Ed and Joan Benjamin, Harrisonville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 2. Joan grew up in Garden City and was living in Harrisonville when she met Ed on a blind date in the early 60s. Ed, a Minnesota native, was stationed at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base in northern Cass County. They were united in marriage at the old Methodist church near the Harrisonville square on a Friday night, Nov. 2, 1962, and spent their honeymoon in Branson. They lived in Harrisonville for a short time and then moved to Louisiana, Texas, California, Alaska, and Washington D.C. through the military. Ed also was deployed to Vietnam and Okinawa during his service. Upon Eds retirement, Ed and Joan returned to Harrisonville with their two children Kimberly and Christopher. Ed worked as a Quality Control Analyst for Reynolds Aluminum and Ball Corporation before retiring in 2005. Joan worked for a local daycare and as a teachers assistant for the Harrisonville school district. Ed and Joan still reside in Harrisonville and their children live and work in Raymore and Belton.
