Cass Coalition meet in Harrisonville

Members of area chambers met at Cass Regional Hospital in Harrisonville for the November Cass County Coalition of Chambers meeting Nov. 8.

Kim Duey, president of both the Peculiar Area Chamber of Commerce and the CCCC, presided over the meeting.

Duey introduced the various representatives from local chambers, cities and county commissioners. She also informed the group of the Coalition’s intentions to begin discussing dues for 2013.

Duey also announced that Janelle Biernbaum will serve as president of the Cass County Coalition of Chambers beginning in the new year.

Biernbaum serves as the director of business development at Belton Regional Medical Center.

In other reports:

-Harrisonville’s City Administrator Keith Moody gave an update about the sale of the old hospital property and the community’s newest initiative to bring residential builders to the area by waiving impact fees for the first 25 units.

-Raymore Mayor Peter Kerckhoff discussed recent and upcoming ribbon cutting celebrations for several new businesses including Spare Change Thrift Store, New Wave Ministries, El Dorado Mexican Restaurant and Premier Car Wash. He also noted that Sam’s Club is set to open November 2013.

-Belton Mayor Jimmy Odom briefly noted that he is excited to begin working for the county as the North Commissioner in January. He also stated that an I-49 ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Gail’s Harley-Davidson, located just north of the county line at 150 Highway.

-Peculiar Mayor Ernie Jungmeyer announced that Missouri Department of Transportation is leading the city to move up 211st Street interchange work to June 2014 instead of November 2014.

-Harrisonville Chamber Director Obie Carl announced plans for the chamber’s first New Years Eve party. Tickets are $25.

-The Belton Chamber announced their annual Turkey Bowl at Aaron’s Family Fun Center will take place Saturday, Dec. 1.
