Senior citizens enjoy Thanksgiving dinner
Over 400 Belton residents gathered together in the Belton High School Upper Gym for the annual Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Nov. 16.
A traditional Thanksgiving meal was served that included turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green beans, dinner roll, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. Fred Skretta emceed the event and the Belton Singers performed holiday favorites.
Five guests who celebrated milestone birthdays were honored: Atwood Alexander, 100; Irene Bell, 100; Zolas Thompson, 100; Helen Knoche, 101; and Elnora Fay, 103. Belton School District Superintendent, Andrew Underwood, presented the honorees with a special gift and flowers. Dinner guests were also given a re-usable coffee mug as a thank-you for their continued support.
BSD would also like to thank BSD students and staff for their hard work and support. They include: Mary Marincik and Sodexo Food Service Staff; BSD Board of Education; BSD Central Office staff and building administrators; Liz Hunsaker and BHS Student Council; BHS FFA members; Brian Stuck and the Belton Singers; BSD maintenance and custodial staff.
