Despite losing all three duals at their invitational Dec. 11, Harrisonville head coach Megan Mannell is satisfied with her team’s performance..
“The girls had a great meet last night despite facing some tough competition from Lee’s Summit, Platte County and Warrensburg,” Mannell said. “I think it was a good experience for them to go up against the talent on those teams. Individually and as relays, the girls posted some best times for the season.”
Lee’s Summit defeated Harrisonville 206-120, Platte County beat Harrisonville 221-195 and Warrensburg swam past Harrisonville 207-184.
Taylor Spencer won the 100-yard butterfly for the Wildcats with a time of 1:04.23 minutes and took second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:11.49.
“Taylor Spencer is moving steadily closer to a state qualifying time in the 100-yard butterfly again,” Mannell said. “She has dropped time at every met so far this season and is currently only 1.25 seconds away from this year’s state cut. A few swimmers, including Kailey Huston and Melissa Watson, have already out-performed their best times from last season as well.”
Harrisonville took second in the 200-yard medley relay as swimmers Courtney Bomberger, Courtney Lemmer, Taylor Spencer and Melissa Watson swam a time of 2:09.79. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Courtney Lemmer, Melissa Watson, Courtney Bomberger and Taylor Spencer finished third with a time of 1:59.13.
Courtney Lemmer placed third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:04.39 and took fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:22.52. Melissa Watson took fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:26.11 and Madison Hurd finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:35.13
