Students show great character
Sherwood Elementary School is again recognizing students each month that have shown great character. Staff members nominate students that have gone above and beyond to use the character trait of the month.
November’s character word was service. The character word of the month was discussed in each classroom and students had many opportunities to practice the trait. Teachers encouraged their students by modeling the character traits in class.
Many students were nominated for their acts of service at school. Each child nominated had their picture taken and their teacher’s comments displayed on a wall in the school to show their fellow students their great character.
The students chosen for the month of November were third grader Emalee Kedigh and fourth grader Austin Stanton.
“Emalee is always willing to help without being asked,” teacher Clara Taber said. “She is responsible and follows through with tasks that are given to her.”
“I would like to nominate Austin Stanton for character trait service,” teacher Jill Swestka said. “w Austin is always helpful in the classroom and in the hallways. Austin goes above and beyond to help others and never asks for anything in return. He is a great student and sets a wonderful for others.”
