Nixon taps Raymore attorney to bench

Gov. Jay Nixon appointed Raymore attorney Meryl L. Lange as the new Associate Circuit Judge for Cass County Jan. 2.
"With her background of more than 22 years in the Cass County legal community, Lange has extensive experience in a wide-ranging area of the law," Nixon said in a release. "I am pleased to appoint her to the bench, where she will apply those abilities in serving the people of this county."
The position became available upon the election of the William B. Collins as Presiding Circuit Judge in November.
Lange is a partner in the law firm of Crouch, Spangler and Douglas, and has been with the firm since 1990. Her practice has included both criminal and civil law, including domestic, probate and juvenile law.
She also is a trained family law mediator and has served as a guardian ad litem for minor children and for adults who are not competent.
A graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law and of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Lange is a native of Cass County.
