A school bus transporting Harrisonville students was involved in a minor traffic accident Tuesday, Jan. 8.

The accident between a minivan and Durham School Services bus No. 13 occurred at the intersection of Blueberry Drive and Chapel Lane, south of East South Street at approximately 8:30 a.m.

The driver of the minivan reportedly rear-ended the bus while the bus was en route to Harrisonville Elementary School after leaving McEowen Elementary School.

Harrisonville Police were called to the scene.

According to Harrisonville Schools’ spokeswoman Jill Filer, 19 children, ranging in ages from kindergarten to third grade were on the bus at the time of the accident.

The children on the bus were transferred to another bus and taken to school at Harrisonville Elementary School and Harrisonville Early Childhood Center.

Upon arriving at Harrisonville Elementary School, two students were assessed by the school nurse. The students, who are siblings, were checked out by their mother at 9:23 a.m.

No other injuries were reported.

Filer said the bus company made personal phone calls to the parents of the students on the bus.
