The Raymore-Peculiar Special Services Department hosted its second annual “Winter Event” Dec. 12 for special education students and their families.

More than 200 people attended along with many Ray-Pec staff members who helped to create a memorable evening.

Participants were able to enjoy a visit with Santa, eat snacks, make crafts, and watch a skit written and performed by several high school students. Face painting by Barb Welsh, special education process coordinator at Peculiar Elementary School, Nicole Osborn, payroll benefits coordinator; Leanne Dial, administrative assistant for the Human Resources Department and Abby Webb, benefits/payroll assistant was available. Other activities included balloon art, a family photo and a free book for the family.

A new attraction this year was KC Wolf, the mascot for the Kansas City Chiefs football team, who joined in the fun and festivities with his own special antics.

The event was organized by Jacque Underwood, Director of Special Services, Early Childhood Special Education through Grade 4; Linda Bass, Director of Special Services, Grades 5-12; Cindy Sinclair, behavior interventionist, Clara Elliott, School Psychologist; and Michelle Moore, administrative assistant for the Special Services Department.
