Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Beougher

William and Chitra Slaughter, Garden City, announce the marriage of their daughter, Athena Slaughter, to Christopher Beougher, son of Kevin Beougher and stepmother Linda Beougher, Harrisonville.

The bride is a 2010 graduate of Rockhurst University and Research College of Nursing and is currently employed with Two Rivers Behavioral Health of Kansas City. The groom is in his final year of study at University of Missouri-Kansas City, majoring in mechanical engineering. Both are graduates of Harrisonville High School.

The wedding took place at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 1, 2012, at The Stanley in Lee’s Summit. The bride’s sister Mariesa Slaughter of Chapel Hill, N.C., served as the maid of honor while Jaime Friel, a classmate from Rockhurst, served as the bridesmaid. The grooms brother, Drew Beougher, Harrisonville, served as best man and Drew’s daughter, Jada, was the junior bridesmaid. The job of flower girl went to Cora Cartner, a niece of the groom. The ring bearer was Corbin Brown, the groom’s nephew, from Garden City. Ben Kentch acted as a groomsman and his son, Dominick, was the junior groomsman.

The reception followed immediately at The Stanley, where a mix of Thai and Kansas City barbecue highlighted the menu. The wedding cake was from Andres Confiserie Suisse of Kansas City. The cake was a three-tiered torte consisting of separate layers of pistachio, rum raspberry and mocha. The service was officiated by Pastor Rodney Lindemann of Timothy Lutheran Church of Blue Springs. The couple honeymooned off the coast of Venezuela on the island of Curacao.

They reside in Harrisonville.
