Patti Bell Scott, 87, of Harrisonville, was born in Tolbert, Texas, the daughter of William Grady and Minnie Belle (Spurill) Bell. She died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville.

Cremation with inurnment at a later date will be in Wilburger County Cemetery, Vernon, Texas. No services are scheduled.

Mary Lucille Larson, 87, (formerly of Rosedale, Kansas City, Kan.) died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, in Harrisonville. Lucille was born the daughter of Samuel Winstead and Averie Ella Hayes in Kansas City, Kan.

Visitation for Lucille was Jan. 26 at Maple Hill Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Shirley Ann Hogan

Mrs. Shirley Ann Hogan, 76, of Grandview, was born April 22, 1936, in Kansas City, the daughter of Edward Charles and Viola Ann (Hutchens) Smith. She died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City.

Funeral services were Jan. 26 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with burial in Koger Cemetery near Oak Grove.

Carla Dyanne Hoshor Vogt

Nov. 17, 1947 - Jan. 23, 2013

Carla Dyanne Hoshor Vogt, 65, of Urich, was born in Maryville, the daughter of Dean Daryl Hoshor and Ruth Gertrude (Trudy) Kissinger Hoshor. She died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville.

Rosemary Brinton

Dec. 17, 1917 - Jan. 24, 2013

Rosemary Brinton, 95, of Harrisonville, was born in Sioux Falls, Iowa, the daughter of George William and Mary Susan (Lawson) Clough. She died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville.

She is survived by two daughters, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter.

Frances D. Ferguson

April 29, 1922 - Jan. 24, 2013

Frances “Fran” D. Ferguson, 90, of Harrisonville, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville.

Fran was born April 29, 1922, in Jerome, Pa., the daughter of John and Anna (Williams) Donahue. She grew up in the West Plains area and moved to Kansas City in 1970. She moved to Harrisonville in 1980. Fran worked as a supervisor for International Shoe Company in West Plains from 1953 to 1970. After she moved to Kansas City, Fran worked for Smith RPM in Overland Park, Kan., retiring in 1990. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville and the Harrisonville VFW Auxiliary.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and sisters, one son, James D. Ferguson who was killed in Vietnam in 1968, and a grandson, Rodney Sibbitt. She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Miller and husband, Clint, Harrisonville, and Vickie Sibbitt and husband, Ronald, Palmdale, Calif.; three sisters, Katherine Ward, Springfield, Anna Mathies of Delaware and Peggy Donahue of Florida; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Jan. 25 at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.

Marcus Demmon Morton

Marcus Demmon (Denny Lee) Morton, 65, of Harrisonville, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Benchmark Healthcare of Harrisonville.

Denny was born Oct. 15, 1947, in Dallas County, the son of Grover L. and Peggy Lou (Paul) Morton. Denny worked many years at Cass County Workshop. He lived in the Cass County area for many years, his last residence being in Benchmark Healthcare Facility in Harrisonville.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Lou Paul; his stepmother, Helen Morton and a niece, Shauna Kay Heck. He is survived by his father, Grover Morton, Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg; two brothers, Dexter Morton and wife, Pamela, Lee’s Summit, and Dudley Morton and wife, Teresa, Peculiar; four nieces and one nephew.

Funeral services were Jan. 29 at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial was in Brady Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Nellie Rose Bennefeld

Nellie Rose Bennefeld, 85, of Belton, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Beautiful Savior Nursing Home in Belton.

Nellie was born March 13, 1927, in McAllen, Texas. She had lived in the Kansas City area most of her life. She married Donald Elmer Bennefeld on Sept. 16, 1950.

Andrew Johnson Ray

April 24, 1932 - Jan. 26, 2013

Andrew “Andy” J. Ray, 80, of Harrisonville, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

Andy was born April 24, 1932, in Springfield, the son of Homer and Lola (Guard) Ray. He grew up in the Springfield area. He married Kay Evelyn Fischer on April 1, 1961, in Kansas City. He was a Korean War Air Force veteran. He lived in Kansas City before moving to Harrisonville in 1970.

Andy was a truck driver for Campbell ‘66 in Kansas City for 27 1/2 years before retiring. He was a member of Local No. 41 Teamsters Union. He was a member of Cass Masonic Lodge No. 147, Harrisonville, and a member and past Worthy Patron of Bayard Chapter No. 179, Order of Eastern Star. He also was a member of Ararat Shrine, Kansas City. He worked for the Harrisonville school system for several years after retiring and later worked for Walmart as a greeter in the garden center for 16 years.

Andy is survived by his wife, Kay, of the home; two sons, Andrew J. Ray, Jr., and wife, Carolyn, Warrensburg, and Kevin B. Ray, Russellville, Ark.; four brothers, Lloyd Ray and wife, Ida, Harrisonville, Homer Joe Ray, Springfield, Stephen Glen Ray and wife, Pat, Fair Grove, Deryl Ray, Republic; four sisters, Rosalee DeHaven and husband, Kenneth, Anderson, S. C., Wynaka Lucas, Springfield, Dorthy Himstead and husband, Ron, Springfield, Mary Wallin and husband, Bob, Willard, and Madene Stahlman and husband, Paul, Lebanon; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Jan. 30 at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Masonic services were by Cass Masonic Lodge No. 147, Harrisonville. Military services were under the auspices of the Harrisonville Honor Guard. (Cremation).

Isa Lind (Hockaday) Terril, 104, was born in Pleasant Hill and died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013. She was the daughter of Irvin Hay and Isa Maud (Oream) Hockaday.

Funeral services for Terril were Jan. 30 at Wallace Funeral Home with Pastor Sarah Ross of the First Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Hill officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Eric Scott Wise

Oct. 31, 1961 - Jan. 26, 2013

Eric Scott Wise, 51, of Freeman, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Kansas City Hospice House.

Eric was born Oct. 31, 1961, in Grand Junction, Colo. He was a graduate of Ruskin High School in 1980 and was a member of the football team. He was employed at the Cass County assessor’s office as a Field Appraiser. Eric was an avid reader.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Eugene and Mary Wise, Ned and Cleva Courson and nephew Matthew Wise. Eric is survived by his parents Donald and Betty Wise of Freeman; brothers Craig and wife Tammy Wise of Freeman, and Mark and wife Dowlene Wise of Cleveland; sister Diana and husband Tim Glenn of Windsor; 13 nephews and nieces, two great-nieces, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. followed by the memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145.

William M. Minor

April 22, 1933 - Jan. 28, 2013

William M. Minor, 79, died at his home in Liberty on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013.

Bill was born April 22, 1933, south of Warrensburg, one of four children of William Thompson and Mary Eva (Robertson) Minor. He was a “son” of pioneers in Johnson County. He was united in marriage to Ruth Emaline Miller on Nov. 14, 1952, and they lived in Warrensburg, Odessa, Clinton and Liberty. Bill served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957. His career in the telephone industry spanned 43 years, retiring as a supervisor for Sprint in 1995. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Harrisonville and a 28-year member of Kiwanis.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruth; daughters and sons-in-law, Christine McMenemy (James III) and Kathy Sternecker (David); grandchildren, Rebecca McMenemy, Jennifer Sternecker, Brandon McMenemy and Aaron Sternecker; sister, Mary Louise Pell; brothers, Allen Minor and Leonard Minor, as well as other family members and friends. Bill will be remembered as a loving and kind man, very dedicated to God, family and work.

The family is grateful to the many doctors and caregivers for their care and support during Bill’s seven-year battle with multiple myeloma.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a service celebrating Bill’s life at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at Mineral Creek Cemetery, Leeton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the University of Arkansas Multiple Myeloma Institute (myeloma.uams.edu/ donation).

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with burial in Garden City Cemetery, Garden City. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at the funeral home.
