Pirates take first at home invite

Belton’s wrestling squad took first place in their own Hall of Fame Invitational Feb. 2 with a team score of 318.5 points. Winnetonka took second place with 189 points, followed by Raymore-Peculiar in third place with 179 points.

The Pirates had six first-place finishers, including Clayton Fenzl at 113 pounds, Robbi Jones had 126 pounds, Clay Stine at 132 pounds, Jacob Benson at 138 pounds, Austinn Goin at 145 pounds and Tyler Gorman at 285 pounds.

Three wrestlers took second place, including Brian Sanders (120), John Hiltner (182) and Andruw Goin (220). Zuberi Muwwakkil (152) and Brandon McKinney (160) both finished third. Matthew Hodges (170) took fourth, Grant Whitney (195) placed fourth and Brenden Lamar (106) finished fifth.

Raymore-Peculiar had four third-place finishers, including Cody Wood at 113 pounds, Chase Brumback at 138 pounds, Dakota Cornelius at 170 pounds and Connor Berry at 220 pounds. The Panthers also had five wrestlers take fourth place, Zach Watson at 106 pounds, Mason Derry at 120 pounds, Jacob Paddock at 152 pounds, AJ Anderson at 160 pounds and Bailey Carlson at 285 pounds.

Spencer Teegarden (182) finished fifth, Kyle Wathor (132) took sixth and Nate May (145) placed seventh.
