High school theatre

Harrisonville High School and the Wildcat Players will present “Charley’s Aunt” Feb.14-16. Cost is $5 person. Performances are at 7 p.m.

Fish fry

Our Lady of Lourdes Knights of Columbus will host a fish fry on every Friday, beginning Friday, Feb. 15, during Lent (except Good Friday) from 5-7 p.m. at the church, 2700 E. Mechanic, Harrisonville. Menu includes of fried fish, baked fish, baked potato, tater tots, fritters, coleslaw, green beans, dessert and drink. Cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-13, and children under 6 are free.

Marriage conference

The state of marriage in America will be explored at Lifetree Café at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15. The program, “Is Marriage Obsolete? Why More People Are Saying, ‘I Don’t,’”will examine the declining marriage rate and the underlying causes of the trend. Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Snacks and beverages are available. Princess Ball

The Harrisonville Parks and Recreation department will be hosting a father-daughter Princess Ball 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Harrisonville Community Center, for a night full of dancing and fun. The ball is designed for girls ages 5-18 and the father figure in their life. The cost for the male guardian is $15 and each daughter is $5. Registration deadline is Thursday, Feb. 14. There will be an on-site photographer, flowers for sale and snacks provided.

VFW meeting

The VFW Post 4409 Harrisonville invites all members to attend their monthly meeting held at 7 p.m. on the third Monday at the Post Headquarters, 1804 N. Commercial. The Raymore-Peculiar Public School Foundation invites the public to breakfast to learn more about the Foundation’s work in the school district. Heartland open house

Heartland Christian School in Belton, is having an open house 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21. Chili supper

The United Methodist Men’s Annual Chili dinner will be 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Harrisonville United Methodist Church, 2600 E. Mechanic St. Chili, drink and dessert provided. Vegetable soup and hot dogs also provided. Cost is $5 adults and $3 for children 10 and under.

Love’s Outreach Community in Pleasant Hill will be hosting a food distribution 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 for families in need. Valid ID and proof of residence required to participate. Go Red Ladies Night Out

Belton Regional Medical Center will host its’ fifth annual Go Red for Women Ladies Night Out event at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at the Belton Freshman Center, 801 W. North Ave. The event is dedicated to women’s heart health and Cardiologist Elizabeth Dang, MD, will be the hospital’s 2013 Go Red for Women Champion. Heart health walking class

Strong Women-Healthy Hearts is a 12 week, twice-weekly program, being taught by MU Extension Specialist, Susan Mills-Gray. Participants will learn heart healthy eating patterns and weight control techniques, and will engage in low-impact walking. Program is designed for women 40 years old or older who have been mostly or completely inactive for the past few years. Classes begin Monday, Feb. 25 and will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the MU Extension Center, 201 W. Wall St., Harrisonville. Eating with Diabetes class

Learn practical techniques to successfully self-manage diabetes through nutrition, food selection and preparation. Dinner and recipes provided weekly. This series will be taught by Susan Mills-Gray, Nutrition/Health Specialist with University of Missouri Extension. Class will meet weekly 6-8 p.m. on Mondays from Feb. 25-March 18 at the MU Extension Center, 201 W. Wall, Harrisonville. Strength training for seniors

The University of Missouri Extension –Cass County Center and the Cass Career Center are partnering to offer Stay Strong, Stay Healthy, a 10-week program for people 60 years or older. All exercises are done either standing or sitting; there are no floor exercises involved. All weight equipment for the class will be provided. Class will be held 11 a.m.-noon, Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning Monday, Feb. 25, and will meet at the MU Extension Center, 201 W. Wall St., Harrisonville. Pre-registration is required and the class is limited to 20 people. The fee is $35 (second person from same household is $15). GriefShare

South Haven Baptist Church, 16800 Bel-Ray Boulevard, Belton, will be offering a 13-week seminar/support group for people grieving the death of someone close beginning Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 6:30-8 p.m. GriefShare is a nondenominational group and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. Girls leadership training

The Harrisonville Business Women will host a Girls Leadership Camp for junior and seniors 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the First Christian Church in Harrisonville. The event is provided free of charge and the program includes interactive workshops on leadership and self improvement. Professional women will present information on the following topics: Personal Finance, Networking and Presentation, Safety Awareness and Business Etiquette. Suessical! performance

The Calvary Bible College Fine Arts Series is will present Ahrens’ and Flaherty’s award-winning musical, Seussical, March 1-10, at the Liberty Chapel, 15790 Elmwood, Kansas City, on Calvary’s campus. The Cass County Association of Educational Office Professionals will host a Ladies’ Day Out event to benefit high school seniors in Cass County 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at the Belton Freshman Center, 801 W. North Ave., Belton. Several small businesses and local crafters will be featured with breakfast and lunch available for purchase by Gen-U-Wine Swine. St. Patricks parade

The Wendell T. Ivers “A li’l bit of Ireland” St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be 5 p.m. Saturday, March 16 in downtown Belton. Parade marshal is Richard Smith owner of RS Diecast & Collectibles. An invitation is extended to any individual, group, organization or business to participate. Entry fee is two canned goods. Donations will be made to Belton Welfare Association.
