Mary Sibley DAR

The Mary Sibley DAR of the NSDAR met Jan. 19 in the conference room of the Cass Regional Medical Center with 15 members and guests present. Marilyn Moreland, regent, opened the meeting with the ritual and pledge to the flags and presented new member packets to Phyllis Jones and Linda Wright.

Minute reports were given and reports of packets taken to eight schools for the Good Citizen Essay contest. The winners will be celebrated at next month’s meeting. Veterans Project was discussed, motion made by Jane Porter to send a check to Veterans Hospital in Warrensburg to be used for entertainment. Motion was made to change our meeting date to Saturday, Feb. 23, passed.

The program was presented by Carol Prettyman, “The Brown Family,” which is the real-life story of a young lady during the Civil War in Cass County.

Meeting closed with luncheon, to gather again at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 23 at the Senior Center. The program will be Good Citizen Essay and Leslie Culpepper with “Dog Therapy at School.” Those interested are welcome.
