The second defendant charged with knowingly causing the death of 4-month-old Avee Hunter, of Peculiar, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Cass County Circuit Courtroom Feb. 15.

Following his guilty plea, Allen Green and was immediately sentenced to 30 years in state prison.

Green pled guilty to accessory to second-degree murder by acting in concert with Moreno Salinas of knowingly causing the death of Salinas’ infant daughter in April 2010.

On Dec. 14, 2012, Salinas was found guilty of murder in the first degree and was sentenced to life in prison without parole Jan. 28.

During the investigation, the defendant admitted to conspiring with Moreno Salinas to kill the infant. He further stated he and Salinas went to the victim’s home over the Easter weekend and Salinas made numerous attempts to kill the infant.

Green stated he was present during each time Salinas assaulted the victim and he was the look out to make sure no one came while the defendant was abusing the infant.

The investigation by the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office found the death was caused by rapid acceleration and deceleration of the head.

“The family attended the trial of Moreno Salinas. This was very difficult and emotional for them,” Cass County Prosecutor Teresa Hensley said. “By Allen Green pleading on Friday it kept the family from having to sit through a second trial.”
