Raymore police investigate fatal shooting

A Raymore man has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly shooting his wife at their home in the 300 block of South Sunrise Drive of Raymore.
The incident is the first homicide to occur in Raymore in more than six years.
Raymore police were called to an apartment complex near the intersection Missouri 58 Highway after shots had been fired in the home at approximately 7 a.m. Feb. 23.
Capt. Jim Wilson said police responded to a call that a female victim, who has been identified as 30-year-old Danielle Beckett, had been shot.
The victim was transported by South Metro’s EMS personnel to Research Main Hospital where she later died as a result of her wounds.
By Saturday evening, prosecuters charged the woman’s husband, Erick Beckett, 34. Beckett was arrested and is being held in the Cass County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.
Earlier, police said they had questioned two people who were at the home at the time of the shooting.
The previous homicide occurred in January 2007 when 30-year-old Sheldon A.C. Haynes was shot to death while in his vehicle in the driveway of his home in the 300 block of Mulberry, Raymore Police Chief Jan Zimmerman.
Two suspects, Wayland D. Morrow, 33, Robert A. Morrow, 32, both of Kansas City, were eventually identified and prosecuted.
