The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified the body found in a burned and partially submerged car March 18.

The vehicle was discovered in the Bittern Bottoms Conservation Area near Harrisonville on Monday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as 27-year-old George Wood of Belton.

At this time, law enforcement officials believes there are no indications of foul play.

According to investigators, it could take several weeks for a final report on lab and forensics test.

Detectives are awaiting complete test results from the Medical Examiner’s Office before making a final determination on the cause of death.

Because of the nature of the incident, deputies contacted the Kansas City Crime to assist in the investigation.
