March 29 Community Brief

March 29, 2013

Pleasant Valley Homemakers

Pleasant Valley Homemakers met March 7 at Harrisonville Community Center for our lunch. After a very nice lunch, we had a special treat of key lime pie for dessert supplied by the hostess.

Carole Raynes, club president, opened the meeting and gave the devotional and then led in the pledge to the flag. Roll call was “What I plan to get rid of for Spring Cleaning” as part of the program to be given later. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved and a treasurer’s report was given.

Announcement was made of the annual meeting of “Spring Fling” 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at University of Missouri Extension Center, 201 W. Wall St. Pleasant Valley is in charge of registration.

Raynes gave a report on the Quarterly Council on March 6 .

Karen Roberts gave the lesson for the day, “Declutter,” with some great handouts and suggestions.

Raynes won the hostess gift and Roberts won the bonus gift. Linda Reece, Raynes and Jo Ann Swearengin received secret pal gifts.

Our next meeting will be Thursday, April 4, at Harold’s Restaurant on 2 Highway West near Freeman. Jeanette Bartles is hostess. Members are reminded to bring silent auction items.
