Ryan Wescoat, 39
Occupation: Adjunct business/entrepreneur professor
Past or present community service/public office: Served three years on the Raymore-Peculiar School District Board of Education; Serving on City Councilman for Ward 2 since 2011.
Why do you wish to serve your community on the City Council: I want to take an active role in shaping the future of our city and I want to give back to the community that has given so much to my family.
What qualifications/leadership do you feel that you can bring to your community: I hold an MBA, a Graduate Certificate in Grantsmanship, and in 2012 I completed the University Of Missouri Institute Of Public Policy’s Academy for Leadership Development. I have a background in quality and process improvement and can draw on that knowledge and experience when looking for ways to improve Raymore. I have a working relationship with our county and state legislators which is a great asset for the city. I am also a proactive listener and I bring a strong, calming voice to the council.
What would be your top priorities for the community you would serve, if elected: Economic development; Continued fiscal responsibility; and maintaining city services.
Note: Raymore Ward 2 candidate Nick Harter did not return a candidate questionnaire.
