Midway girls win fourth straight invite

For the fourth year in a row, the Midway girls’ track and field team captured first place at their own Midway Invitational April 2.

The Lady Vikings had four first place finishes, including the 4x400-meter relay team which finished in 4 minutes, 24.68 seconds.

Jessie Owens had a first place finish in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:04.96, Miranda Dahman took first in the triple jump with a leap of 31 feet, 7 inches and Megan O’Brien placed first in the pole vault with a height of 8 feet, 6 inches.

The rest of the Midway girls’ results are as follows: 300-meter hurdles – 2, Dee Stark, 53.15; 4x800-meter relay – 4, Midway, 11:50.35; 100-meter hurdles – 2, Dee Stark, 19.65; 100-meter dash – 3, Cady Wright, 13.48; 4x200-meter relay – 3, Midway, 1:57.34; 4x100-meter relay – 4, Midway, 57.68; 400-meter dash – 6, Taylor Pierce, 1:11; 800-meter run – 6, Taylor Pierce, 2:32.53; 200-meter dash – 3, Cady Wright, 28.27; 3200-meter run – 5, Sydney Admire, 14:28.56; triple jump – 5, Laine Mills, 27-10; pole vault – 4, Laine Mills, 7-0; shot put – Gabby Smith, 27-7.5.

The Drexel boys’ clinched first place at the invite with six first place finishes. The 4x200-meter relay team took first with a time of 1:36.61.

Trevor Cooley placed first in the 110-meter hurdles and first in the triple jump with a leap of 40 feet, 3 inches. Hunter Lindsey took first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.46, first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.08 and first in the long jump win the 20 feet, 2 inches.

The rest of the Bobcats’ results are as follows: 4x800-meter relay – 2, Drexel, 8:58.39; discus throw – 2, Trevor Stewart, 112-0.5; high jump – 2, CJ Bolton, 5-8; 400-meter dash – 3, Javyn Johnston, 55.53; 4, Cooley, 55.78; 4x400-meter relay – 3, Drexel, 3:48.91; 1600-meter run – 4, Reynolds, 5:01.08; 3200-meter run – 2, Reynolds, 10:49.8; 4x400-meter relay – 3, Drexel, 3:48.91; shot put – 2, Laramie Lane, 41-1.

The Midway boys took second and had four first place finishes, including the 4x400-meter relay, which took first in a time of 3:44.37.

Joey Beller took first in the shot put with a time of 41 feet, 10 1/4 inches, Peyton Semsch placed first in the pole vault with a height of 11 feet, 6 inches and Bobby Zielinski finished first in the high jump with a height of 6 feet, 4 inches.

The Archie girls took third place at the invitational, behind Butler in second. The Lady Whirlwinds also had four first place finishers, including the 4x800-meter relay team, which finished in 10:49.56.

Jordan Schulte took first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:38.37. Haley Schaefer finished first in two events, in the discus throw with a toss of 94 feet, 11 1/2 inches and in the shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 6 1/2 inches.

The rest of the Archie girls’ results are as follows: 100-meter hurdles – Young, 20.34; 4x200-meter relay – 5, Archie, 2:04.62; 1600-meter run – 3, Mary Kurzweil, 6:10.37; 3200-meter run – 2, Mary Kurzweil, 12:38.54; 4x400-meter relay – 2, Archie, 4:33.79; shot put – 3, Kara Fisher, 28-11.5.

The Archie boys took seventh place at the invite, with one first place medal going to Austin Reynolds in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.68.

The rest of the Whirlwinds’ results are as follows: 4x800-meter relay – 3, Archie, 9:21.9; high jump – 4, Ceasar Swigart, 5-4.

The Drexel girls’ finished eighth. The Lady Bobcats results are as follows: 4x800-meter relay – 2, Drexel, 10:55.12; 1600-meter run – 5, Sarah Cawby, 6:35.38; 800-meter run – 4, Jacy Bolton, 2:49.25; 4x400-meter relay – 4, Drexel, 4:48.53; triple jump – 6, Jenna Bartholomew, 27-8; shot put – 4, Karlie Stuteville, 28-3; discus throw– 4, Karlie Stuteville, 89-11.
