The Mary Sibley Chapter NSDAR

The Mary Sibley Chapter NSDAR met March 16 with eight members and 19 guests present. Marilyn Moreland, regent, led with the ritual and pledges to the flags.

The winners of the Good Citizens Essay Contest were then introduced from eight schools of Cass County, along with their families. The winners were Anisa Alexander, daughter of Doug and Trish Alexander of Harrisonville; Craig Bolton, son of Dennis and Pam of Drexel; Caitlin Chaffin, daughter of James and Charlene Chaffin of Cleveland; Kaily Kurzweil, daughter of Dennis and Linda Kurzweil of Archie; and Adrionna Solomon, daughter of Adrionna and Dave Wilson of Belton. Brandon Dick from Raymore-Peculiar and Taylor Herrandy were unable to attend. Kaily Kurzweil’s essay was sent on to the State DAR Contest.

The newly formed Cass Co Disaster Preparedness Team was then introduced. Deputies Jess Claibourne, John Sutcliff and Robin Berger gave a most interesting program of training and gathering of their equipment.

The business meeting was then called to order. We were invited to the Veterans Hospital in Warrensburg March 23 for a luncheon and tour honoring donors and volunteers.

Sunday, April 14, is the 40th anniversary of Roslyn Heights State Headquarters of DAR in Boonville.

Marilyn and Karen Hilson attended the 40th anniversary of the Little Blue DAR in Grandview last month.

The answer to our grant for the Brown Salve Quarters comes Wednesday, May 1.

The next meeting will be the annual salad luncheon at Jil Durbin’s home. Meeting adjourned.
