The Cass County Commissioners approved an intergovernmental agreement between the county and the Belton-Cass Regional Transportation Development District during their weekly meeting April 18.
The resolution was a formality to adopt the agreement after voters approved the creation of the TDD and imposition of the sales tax.
The Belton City Council adopted a resolution in October 2011 authorizing the joint creation and implementation of the TDD. Since the county has incurred legal costs related to the formation of the district and the transportation project, and the district has authorized the reimbursement to the county, the Commission needed to make approval on the issue during Thursday’s meeting.
The TDD is providing to assistance to variety of projects, including the Mullen Road improvement project, and areas near local highways and Interstate 49.
“Passing this today obligates the TDD, which already has the money in it, to release the funds to pay our attorney, which is about $16,000 and some change,” North Commissioner Jimmy Odom said.
