April 26, 2013

Cass County Heartland Area Homemakers

The Cass County Heartland Area Homemakers had the annual Spring Fling on April 17. There were 24 members in attendance. The Lisle Homemakers Club was in charge of hospitality and Pleasant Valley Homemakers was in charge of registrations. Linda Kyser gave the thought of the day.

The first presentation was Trivia Quiz by Darlene Hodges of Progressive Priscillas. The trivia questions dealt with the events of the 1950s and 1960s.

The Get Together Club’s presentation was provided by Seth Hershberger, Assistant Director of Cass County Library. He provided an overview of services available through the library.

The Pleasant Hill Young Matrons’ presentation was provided by Glenna Cullen from Master Gardeners. Her presentation provided information on self- watering containers.

The Lisle Club presentation was provided by Denise Miller who shared information and dolls from her collection.

Verda Day gave the invocation, followed by a salad luncheon. Preceding the afternoon session, names were drawn for door prizes.

President Beason presented each club with a “Certificate of Program Completion” for activities completed in 2012.

The Pleasant Valley Homemakers presentation was provided by Paul Raynes. Paul provided a vocal rendition of John Denver hits.

The afternoon session concluded with a game of bingo, presented by the Glorified Homemakers club. A good time was enjoyed by all, with many gifts of flowers and miscellaneous items won by all.

The Spring Fling ended with President Beason thanking all club members for their presentations and for making our event a success.

Pleasant Valley Homemakers

Pleasant Valley Homemakers met April 4 at Harold’s Restaurant near Freeman for our lunch and meeting. Jeanette Bartles was hostess. President Carole opened our meeting by leading in the pledge to the flag. A short devotional was given and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved and the treasurer’s report was given.

We were reminded of Spring Fling on April 17 at the Extension Office. Responsibilities were discussed because Pleasant Valley had registration duty. Linda Wyant brought the name tags.

There was a silent auction of various items to help our treasury. What a fun way to exchange nice things and help our club.

Secret Pal gifts were received by Linda Reece, Sandy Reece, Karen Roberts, Jo Ann Swearengin and Carole Raynes.

The hostess gift was won by Roberts and Linda Reece.

Club will meet next Friday, May 2, at the home of Wyant.
