McEowen students honored at assembly

April 26, 2013

Harrisonville McEowen Elementary students were honored at a monthly assembly March 27. The school hosts a monthly Positive Action Assembly to recognize student accomplishments.

To begin the assembly, Boy Scouts led McEowen students in the Pledge of Allegiance and fifth graders Mackenzie Rasnic and Austin Fisher played the National Anthem on her recorder.

The March Students of the Month are nominated by their classroom teacher.

Each month, McEowen students who exhibit the character education trait of the month are honored. March’s trait was empathy.

Students are also recognized for writing and math at each Positive Action Assembly.

Fourth grader Luke Griffith received Service Above Self Awards from the Harrisonville Rotary Club for March. Each month, the Rotary Club recognizes a student at McEowen for their work in helping others.

The Harrisonville Kiwanis Club honored students as part of its Terrific Kids Program for fourth graders. This program seeks to recognize students for achieving goals outside the academic realm.

McEowen also recognizes a staff member at the school as the McEowen Sonic Super Star Staff Member. Fifth grade teacher Karen Eisel was honored as the March recipient.
