Ray-Pec student injured in bus crash

May 17, 2013

One student was transported to Belton Regional Medical Center with minor injuries after an Apple Bus Company bus carrying Raymore-Peculiar High School special needs students was involved in a crash May 15.

The crash occurred just after 8 a.m. on Highway 71 and Longview Road in Kansas City after the bus collided with another vehicle when making a lane change.

The bus was one of about 10 buses carrying students and school faculty to the Community of Christ Auditorium in Independence for graduation rehearsal.

Another bus was dispatched to the scene to transport the other students.

Another Ray-Pec senior had a rough start to the morning after being involved in a one-vehicle crash at about 7 a.m. on an access road, east of the high school.

The student was on his way to the school when he failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle overturned. There were no other passengers in the vehicle, and the driver was not injured.
