HES students recognized

June 7, 2013

Harrisonville Elementary School students were honored at an assembly May 6. The school hosts monthly assemblies to recognize student accomplishments.

Students who exhibit the character trait of the month are named Wildcats of the Month. The honored students received a certificate and a T-shirt from the Harrisonville Optimist Club. The Applebee’s Golden Apple recipient for April was second grade teacher Lisa Hern.

Third graders Lydia Newman and Emilio Lara received Service Above Self Awards from the Harrisonville Rotary Club. Newman is the March recipient and Lara is the April honoree. Each month, the Rotary Club will recognize one student at HES for his/her work in helping others.

In addition, principal Jauna Weber recognized one student at each grade level with the Principal’s Awards for artwork created and displayed during the school’s art fair. The honorees were second grader Alexis Walker, third grader Emily Joseph, and first grader Paige Countryman.

More than 350 students were honored for meeting their reading goals for April.
