Belton contests

The Baby and Junior Contests will be at 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m., respectively, Saturday, June 15 at Belton Christian Church. The Miss Belton Contest is 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20 at Markey Park. Applications are available on the Belton Community Project website and due Saturday, June 8.

Vacation Bible School

Families are invited to attend Vacation Bible School from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, through Saturday, June 20, at Gunn City Christian Church. This year’s theme is “Over the Top/Circus” If interested in attending, please pre-register by calling Betty Winne at 816-869-3074.

Computer classes

Metropolitan Community College will be offering an introductory computer class at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Harrisonville Library. Questions on any computer topic will be answered as time permits.

VeteransAppreciation Day

The public is invited to join Post 4409 for food, fun, games and prizes at the Veterans Family and Friends Appreciation Day from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at Shelter No. 7 in Harrisonville City Park.

BBQ, hot dogs, sides and desserts will be served.

The event is hosted by VFW Veterans, and the Ladies and Men’s Auxiliary.

Creighton Reunion

The Creighton School Annual Reunion will be Sunday, June 23, at the Community Building. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and lunch will follow at noon. Cost is $15 per person. Reservations not required.

A collection of “Creighton School Memories” will be available for $5 each.

Blood drive

The Community Blood Center, the provider of blood services to local hospitals, will be conducting a blood drive 1-6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Foxwood Springs, 1500 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore.

The drive will take place in Holmes Hall to help local hospital patients who depend on life saving blood donations.

Charity Motorcycle Ride for HELP Humane

HELP Humane is hosting a 2 Wheels 4 Paws fundraising event Saturday, June 29.

The ride begins at Rawhide Harley Davidson in Olathe, Kan. and will stop in Belton at the shelter, and will finish in Louisburg, Kan. Kickstands up at 11 a.m.

After-party to include Jack Stack BBQ, raffle contest and live musical entertainment.

Cost is $25 per rider, and includes food and after-party events.

Savannah Nash Memorial

Concert at the Park

A benefit concert in honor of Savannah Nash is being planned for Saturday, July 13, at Harrisonville’s Amphitheater in the City Park. The concert will feature bands therest and Project 221, and all proceeds from the event will benefit the Memorial Fund that has been established in Nash’s honor. Donations will be accepted at the event.

Mobile Dental Services

The Elks Mobile Dental Unit will be located in Harrisonville at the Cass County Elks Lodge No. 2791 Monday, July 29-Thursday, Aug. 8. Eligible patients include children and adults who have developmental or intellectual disabilities as defined by the Department of Mental Health, Division of Developmental Disabilities, and individuals in extreme financial distress who have found it impossible to receive dental care anywhere else and have a letter of referral from the Lodge.
