McEowen students honored for achievement

Harrisonville McEowen Elementary School students were honored for their academic achievement at an end-of-the year ceremony May 16.

The fifteenth annual Accent on Achievement Program included recognition of Principal’s Honor Roll, Presidential Scholars, as well as students honored for citizenship and reading achievement.

The event began with three speakers providing their “Perspective on Excellence.” The speakers included fifth grade student Evan Filer, parent Bill Filer, and fifth grade teacher Karli Enderle.

Students who earn straight A’s are named to the Principal’s Honor Roll.

Thirty-one fourth graders were recognized for maintaining A’s all year. They were Corbin Alley, Josie Anderson, Kennedy Atkinson, Hunter Baker, Abigail Borland, Elizabeth Bostic, Trevor Campbell, Nathanael DeVenney, Lacy Dunsworth, Mason Evans, Kendall Fischer, George Frees, Kiley Friend, Emily Gray, Walker Holden, Kaci Johnson, Kylee Kingman, Grace Kirkemo, Tony Lakin, Sawyer Lundeen, Riley Mathew, Erison Maxwell, Selah Norman, Colleen O’Reilly, Mary O’Reilly, Tera Reberry, River Riley, Monte Schroeder, Hann Scott, Alicia Torres and Dylan Wright.

Fifth graders earning this recognition included Meghan Allen, Megan Allen, Ryan Anderson, Jacob Berg, Isaiah Boyer, Caitlyn Costner, Emma Fischer, Brina Gilbert, Kaylee Harp, Rachel Horton, Skylar Lite, Elaina Locke, Abby Mainard, Presley Reynolds, Brodie Rogers and Garrett Siegenthaler.

Fifth graders who earned A’s throughout both their fourth and fifth grade year were named Presidential Scholars. Those students were Kyron Beavers, Andy Brizendine, Deseree Campen-Thomas, Mia Cardenas, Austen Cesonic, Mackina Chamberlain, Carson Crowley, Michael Dahn, Kash Dalton, Ethan Danner, Hannah Dinges, Kathrine Dooley, Evan Filer, Landon George, Aliyah Hasam, Madison Hoffman, Ethan Inman, Bryce Jenkins, Dewayne Karg, Elizabeth Kehoe, Rachael Lakin, Jared Moreland, Jacob Poisal, Elizabeth Reece, Ashlee Roepke, parker Rowland, Joey Schoonover, Brian Schrock, Michael Schuhler, Maria Styron and Amy Tarcy.

McEowen Library Media Specialist Tonya Ours presented awards to 128 students for meeting their Accelerated Reader goals for the year.

The Top AR Readers at each grade level were fourth graders Mary O’Reilly, Grace Kirkemo and Colleen O’Reilly and fifth graders Michael Schuhler, Ethan Inman and Evan Filer.

Forty fourth and fifth graders completed 17 books as part of the Mark Twain Readers challenge and were recognized for that accomplishment. They were Meghan Allen, Corbin Alley, Josie Anderson, Hunter Baker, Chase Barkhurst, Abigail Borland, Elizabeth Bostic, Michael Dahn, Jamine Davis, Nathanael DeVenney, Evan Filer, Emma Fischer, Kendall Fischer, George Frees, Madison Hofman, Walker Holden, Ethan Inman, Kylee Kingman, Grace Kirkemo, Kadin Lacy, Rachael Lakin, Sawyer Lundeen, Maria Messer, Mary O’Reilly, Colleen O’Reilly, Jalen Peterman, Jacob Poisal, Elizabeth Reece, Monte Schroeder, Michael Schuhler, Hanna Scott, Macey Shoemaker, Maria Styron, Amy Tracy, Kitty Truman and Jake Ward.

The final awards of the night were the Citizenship Awards presented to one student from each class. Those honored included Amy Bomer, Kaley Caldwell, Kylee Kingman, Erison Maxwell, Delaney McGuire, Macey Shoemaker, Angel Turney, Rebecca Wright, Gracie Yates, Bradley Cox, Shelby Fitzpatrick, Cameron Hamilton, Maria Messer, Jayden Osborn, Joey Schoonover, Emma Wernex and Tori Wiecken.
