Watershed festival

The Know Your Watershed Festival, sponsored by the South Grand River Watershed Alliance in partnership with the City of Harrisonville, and the Missouri Department of Conservation, will be held 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 29, on the Harrisonville Square. Attendees will receive information about the importance of keeping rain where it falls and how treed stream corridors, rain gardens, rain barrels, and landscape plantings of native plants help to do that and to keep pollutants present in stormwater runoff out of our streams. A drug take-back will also be available at no cost to allow area residents to safely dispose of unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications. For further information, visit www.sgrwa.org.

Charity Motorcycle Ride for HELP Humane

HELP Humane is hosting a 2 Wheels 4 Paws fundraising event Saturday, June 29.

The ride begins at Rawhide Harley Davidson in Olathe, Kan. and will stop in Belton at the shelter, and will finish in Louisburg, Kan. Kickstands up at 11 a.m.

After-party to include Jack Stack BBQ, raffle contest and live musical entertainment.

Cost is $25 per rider, and includes food and after-party events.

Vacation Bible School

Children in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to Colossal World Vacation Bible School at Faith Baptist Church, 23705 East State Route 2, Harrisonville, from 9 a.m.-noon July 8-12. Registration available at the door, or by emailing office@cometofaith.net. If emailing, please include children's names, parents name, phone number, address, any allergies and most recently finished grade in school.

Blood drive

The Peculiar Lions Club will be hosting a blood drive for the Community Blood Center 3:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, at the Lions Community Building, 500 Schug Avenue, Peculiar. Appointments may be made online at savealifenow.org. For additional information, contact Sharon Shores at 816-779-5061.

Raymore Historical Society

The next Raymore Historical Society meeting will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, in the museum located in lower level of the Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. The subject of the gathering will be the society’s quarterly business meeting. Public is invited, and the museum is ADA accessible.

West Line Opry

The West Line Opry will be in performance July 10, 13 and 24 and Aug. 7, 10 and 21. Show time will be 6-9 p.m. every other Wednesday. The dance will be the second Saturday of the month. Admission is free, and donations are accepted.

Savannah Nash Memorial

Concert at the Park

A benefit concert in honor of Savannah Nash is being planned for Saturday, July 13, at Harrisonville’s Amphitheater in the City Park. The concert will feature bands therest and Project 221, and all proceeds from the event will benefit the Memorial Fund that has been established in Nash’s honor. Donations will be accepted at the event.

Mobile Dental Services

The Elks Mobile Dental Unit will be located in Harrisonville at the Cass County Elks Lodge No. 2791 Monday, July 29-Thursday, Aug. 8. Eligible patients include children and adults who have developmental or intellectual disabilities as defined by the Department of Mental Health, Division of Developmental Disabilities, and individuals in extreme financial distress who have found it impossible to receive dental care anywhere else and have a letter of referral from the Lodge.
