The Business Network of Bright Futures is organizing a shoe drive to benefit local children. Benefit garage sale
There will be a benefit garage sale 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, July, 20 to benefit a family struggling with the financial strains of chemotherapy. The sale will be in the parking lot of Hy-Vee in Belton, on Missouri 58.
Vacation Bible School

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler will be hosting an Office Open House 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at her office in Harrisonville, 1909 N. Commercial St. Hartzler staff member Zack Brown will meet with constituents and report back to the congresswoman. All citizens are invited to attend.
West Line Opry
The West Line Opry will be in performance July 24 and Aug. 7, 10 and 21. Show time will be 6-9 p.m. every other Wednesday. The dance will be the second Saturday of the month. Admission is free, and donations are accepted.
The Belton Historical Society will host their next general quarterly meeting 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 28. The meeting will be held behind the Belton Museum, in the Historic City Hall building, 512 Main St., Belton. The July program will be presented by Tom Rafiner, who has written two books detailing the effects of Order No. 11 on the people in our area during the Civil War. This will be a first-time chance to get a preview of his most recent book, titled “Cinders and Silence: A Chronicle of Missouri's Burnt District.” The meeting is free and open to the public. The Elks Mobile Dental Unit will be located in Harrisonville at the Cass County Elks Lodge No. 2791 Monday, July 29-Thursday, Aug. 8. Eligible patients include children and adults who have developmental or intellectual disabilities as defined by the Department of Mental Health, Division of Developmental Disabilities, and individuals in extreme financial distress who have found it impossible to receive dental care anywhere else and have a letter of referral from the Lodge. Back to school gala
CrossRoads Vacation Bible School will be held Monday, July 29 through Friday, Aug. 2, between 6-8 p.m., with an optional free meal at 5:30 p.m., at the church, located at 700 Quik Trip Way, Belton. The theme is “Everywhere Fun Fair: Where God’s World Comes Together” and will include crafts, games, music, storytelling, and science for children ages 3-12. Introductory level computer classes will be offered by the Metropolitan Community College of Kansas City at the Harrisonville library at 10 a.m. Aug. 1 and 8. Each class features a different topic and is independent of the other classes.
