Raymore Attorney Ben Butler has announced his intention to run for the office of Cass County Prosecutor in the Aug. 5, 2014 primary election.

Butler, a Republican and Missouri Bar member, practices law alongside his wife, Jodi, at Butler & Butler Law Office.

He made his public announcement to run July 15 in front of supporters at his law office.

“I will make this a law enforcement position,” Butler said. “My driving motivation to run for this office is to protect our families.”

Butler and his wife have two children and reside in Raymore.

During his campaign introduction, Butler talked about growing up on a family farm in Harrison County, his family’s decision to choose Cass County as the community to build their business and raise their family.

The Butlers are members of the Heart of Life Church in Garden City.

“I’m not going anywhere,” he said, “I have a vested interest in the safety of our community now and in the future.”

Butler recognizes the work of the local law enforcement agencies and pledged to work with them and build a trusted relationship in order to effectively fight crime.

“No one should doubt whether the Prosecutor’s Office is up to the task of keeping our families safe,” he said.

Butler is a University of Missouri alumnus and graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law School. During his studies, Butler clerked in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri.
