Lloyd R. Carter, 58, of Harrisonville, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville.

Lloyd joined the Army and served for 12 years from 1974 to 1986.

Cremation.

There was a Celebration of Life service Aug. 17 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4409, 1804 N. Commercial St., Harrisonville.

Cheryl Degraffenfied

March 2, 1952 - Aug. 14, 2013

Cheryl Degraffenfied, 61, of Harrisonville, was born March 2, 1952, the daughter of John Edward and Leola Marie (Smith) DeGraffenreid. She died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at St. Luke’s East Hospital, Lee’s Summit. There was a Celebration of Life visitation Aug. 16 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville.

Glen Troy Evans

Jan. 28, 1922 - Aug. 15, 2013

Glen Troy Evans, 91, of Grandview, formerly of Adrian, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City. Glen was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Howe, Okla., to Wiley and Dollie Evans.

Evans was a WWII U. S. Army veteran.

Funeral services were Aug. 20 at Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian with burial in Altona Cemetery, Adrian.

Amanda Lou Marshall

Feb. 18, 1958 - Aug. 15, 2013

Amanda Lou Marshall, 55, of Harrisonville, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at her sister’s home in Harrisonville. Amanda was born Feb. 18, 1958, in Denver, Colo., the daughter of Lewis and Audrey Gail (Barrett) Marshall.

Amanda lived in Pennsylvania and Arizona before moving to Missouri. She had lived in Harrisonville for 26 years. Amanda owned Hideaway Kennel in Harrisonville.

Amanda was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Tim Marshall. She is survived by one daughter, Audrey Taylor Marshall, Harrisonville; two brothers, Alan Marshall, Harrisonville, and Michael Marshall, Pittsburg, Penn.; one sister, Patricia Harris and her husband, Richard, Harrisonville; her stepmother, Mary Lou Marshall, Pittsburg, Penn., and a nephew Tony Knight, Harrisonville.

There will be a memorial visitation 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Joseph Donald Nichols

Joseph Donald Nichols, 56, of Pleasant Hill, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis.

Cremation. There will be a memorial mass at noon Saturday, Aug. 24, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd., Independence. The family will receive at 10 a.m.

William George Clum

July 19, 1935 - Aug. 16, 2013

William G. Clum, 78, a lifetime Harrisonville resident, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center in Lee’s Summit. All the loving hands and medical skill was rendered for Bill, but his physical strength could endure no longer after his accident on May 1, 2010. Bill was the only child of Jarold Samuel and Goldie Marie (Yancey) Clum, born July 19, 1935, at the family farm home in Harrisonville.

The Clum’s Plumbing business originated in 1926 and Bill worked with his father at Jarold’s Plumbing and Heating before graduating from Harrisonville High School in 1955. He was a member of the famous Mineral Water Bowl football team. This HHS team went on to win the Water Bowl 14 to 13 on Nov. 22, 1951. Bill was a charter member of the DeMolay, organized in 1953. He took part in many community service projects. He was a member of Harrisonville United Methodist Church, serving several terms as Trustee. He also was a charter member of Twin Pines Country Club.

William George Clum took the hand of his beautiful bride, Peggy Joan Bradley, on April 7, 1956, married by Rev. Joe Brewster, as they began their commitment to a lifetime of shared love and devotion. Bill and Peggy have had the pleasure of raising three children, Rebecca J. Clum, Chandra Lee Clum Henthorne and William Kerby Clum.

“Papa Bill” had the privilege of spoiling two grandchildren, Jayson Travis (Carrie) Ware and Piper Lee Henthorne, along with great-grandchildren, Madeline Elizabeth Ware and Holly, Hannah, Jericho, Josh and Hayden Harris; and beloved son-in-law, Keith Henthorne.

Over the past half century, Bill enjoyed playing golf, bridge and multiple card games with his friends and grandchildren. His fond memories were the many golf adventures with high-school buddies and many friends from the community.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of the home; two daughters, Rebecca Clum and Chandra Henthorne and his son, William Kerby Clum.

William Clum will be remembered as a dedicated family man who generously provided his loved ones with a comfortable home, secure future and many, many humorous and loving stories to tell.

Memorial services were Aug. 20 at United Methodist Church in Harrisonville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harrisonville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 2600 E. Mechanic Street, Harrisonville, MO 64701.

Bruce Michael Spartz

Nov. 24, 1958 - Aug. 16, 2013

Bruce Michael Spartz, 54, of Pleasant Hill, was born Monday, Nov. 24, 1958, in Independence, the son of Gregory Louis and Wilma Ann (Thyer) Spartz. He died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at his home.

Visitation was Aug. 20 at the funeral home. Cremation was accorded following visitation.
